The GraphOn 14 is an X Window System terminal. It is different from most X terminals in that the X server is split between the terminal and the host. That is, X Window System clients connect to the server running on the host. The server communicates with the firmware in the terminal over the RS-232C serial connection. Most X terminals host the server entirely within the terminal device and attach directly to an ethernet network. The GraphOn 14 relies on the host for handling TCP/IP network connections, virtual memory, etc. This allows the terminal to be used with the X Window System even at a relatively low baud rate such as 2400 baud.
