This category is for terminal servers, also sometimes called terminal concentrators. These are devices that connect serial terminals to a network by acting as a network access point. A terminal server might also be used to connect a bank of modems to a network. The terminal server runs some kind of network client for the attached serial devices, such as telnet or ssh.
