AlphaWindows was an attempt to provide a character windowing environment standard that consisted of a protocol, an API for generating the protcol between the terminal and the host. It is similar to GNU Screen, except that it supports a mouse connected to the terminal for manipulating character windows in whcih normal character clients run.
